Guest blogging is a method used by bloggers to increase blog traffic where bloggers write posts to be published on other bloggers’ blogs. Guest blogging can work in one of two ways:
You write a post to appear on another person’s blog.
Another person writes a post to appear on your blog.
Guest blogging is simple. You write a blog post that is relative to another site in the niche of your own site. The point of this is to
get your name out,
build your resume
to your site by putting what is called a “backlink” into your author bio
to create a community within your niche.
The reason guest blogging currently has a high value is that Google seems to recognize it as a powerful means to get your website higher up on Google searches. The current buzz, however, is that Google has put many restraints on guest blogging due to the overuse of similar of content, and the abuse of poor content to advance writers through gaining backlinks.
There are many keys and tactful approaches to doing guest blogging well, and you must research how to do this, and find the best approaches for you in your niche. There are plenty of blogs that discuss how to blog and how to guest blog, so by simply searching for these sites, it would put you in the right direction to building your online reputation.
How many times should I guest blog? Do it as much as you can. 5-10 would be a great start. Don’t just do it on the same site as you want to take advantage of the traffic coming to each individual site. Move around, and if you like a certain site, try not to guest post more than maybe once every 3 months on that site.
Finally, be sure to follow up with your posts and answer comments. You should spend about as much time promoting your guest post as you spent writing it and contacting site owners for guest posting purposes.
Remember these two things:
1) Content is King
2) Social Interaction is Queen
The King and Queen make a great couple together.
